But I think that the ideas that went into making Far Cry 2 were far better than Far Cry 3. It was mainly software glitches that let Far Cry 2 down. When developing Far Cry 3, Ubisoft went off on a tangent from the ideas they had used in Far Cry 2, resulting in a game that very few Far Cry 2 players enjoy.
Not completely, but in a lot of key areas Far Cry 4 is more technically impressive. More particle effects, more dynamic objects, and more complex environments. thats due to Nvidia game works not being in Far Cry 5 .. FC 5 looks better on AMD , as the dev team worked with AMD and their newer GPUs to include rapid packed math.
But the prevailing opinion seems to be that Far Cry 3 is the best. Personally, I like Blood Dragon and 4 better than 3. I think 3 gets a lot of extra credit for being the one that introduced the "modern" FC formula.
Far Cry 4 had more interesting side missions than three did, such as Shangri-La, Yogi and Reggie, and Mumu Chiffon. I love more characters in 4 than I do in 3. The only characters I love in 3 is Sam, Hoyt, and Earnhardt. I agree about no grappling hook and bait.
Let me say first that I enjoyed my playthrough of Far Cry 5. Then my wife picked it up and I played through again on her story as a co-op partner. I liked the game and am happy that we purchased it. I was never really captured by Far Cry 4. After being a huge fan of Far Cry 3 I was anxious for 4 but somehow it never really clicked for me. Whether it was game mechanics, setting or someting else
Sorry in advance for my bad english. In my opinion Far Cry 4 is just more polished and realistic than 6. Exploration is better, Stealth is better, gunfights are better. Kyrat is beautiful even in 2021 and Pagan Min is a great villain. I think Far Cry 4 is the best of the franchise overall.

The thing is, Far Cry 5 (and New Dawn, although I wouldn't put it equal) is the ONLY Far Cry that truly made me connect with the game and do the side content. Blood Dragon was the worse on that front (still, they didn't have much), then 3 a bit better, then 4 a bit better, and then finally Far Cry 5. (I played 3 first though).

- It's better than the Far Cry 3 co-op campaign (although more buggy) - a step in the right direction at least. - Vehicles (except the glider) as designed with co-op in mind. - The game has its fun moments for sure. Cons: - The campaign doesn't work in co-op. co-op only works for the open world stuff. - You can't play co-op right away.
